At Saaletal School in Bad Kissingen, sustainability isn’t just an abstract concept from a textbook—it is actively put into practice. In April 2026, Saaletal School reached a milestone on their journey towards a more environmentally friendly school: They have officially switched their restroom facilities to 50 x EcoNatural Flow Autocut Towel, 50 x Soap 400 and 50 x Toilet Paper L1 dispensers as well as EcoNatural paper.
As a school community, the idea of sustainability is very close to their hearts. Lucart’s philosophy, based on the principle of the circular economy, immediately won them over. Together with the mascot “Albert,” the students are now becoming active environmentalists. The principle is as simple as it is ingenious. Beverage cartons, which are used every day, are recycled through a special production process and broken down from waste into their original components.
Students as experts in environmental protection
To make this complex topic accessible to everyone, our school project was held on May 21st, 2026: Students from each class were trained to become “sustainability experts.” Mr. Kaufmann and Mr. Schütz from Lucart guided the children through the process of the circular economy. The young participants showed great curiosity, asked numerous questions, and followed the explanations attentively.
In recognition of their efforts, the “experts” received an official certificate, an informative brochure with illustrative images for their classes, and small gifts for their classmates.
Creative upcycling: Turning “trash” into something new
Following the training, the experts will pass on their knowledge directly back to their classrooms. But that was just the beginning: Each class was given the task of creatively exploring the topic of waste prevention.
Under the motto “upcycling,” supposed waste products are transformed into something beautiful and new—a living example of how environmental protection can also be fun.
“It was impressive to see how proud and motivated the children were,” said the teacher of class 2b.
“When we see how our children understand the circular economy and actively contribute to creating a greener world, we know we are on the right track. We are proud to be part of the international community of over a million students who are already helping Lucart make the planet a little cleaner,” added the school principal.
With this change, Saaletal school is making an important contribution to resource conservation and raising awareness among the next generation about responsible stewardship of our environment.
