Education plays a key role in building a more sustainable future. With this ambition in mind, our team recently visited Blanche de Castille School in Nantes to present the EcoNatural concept to five classes of CM1 and CM2 students.
The goal of this initiative was to raise awareness of the principles of the circular economy and to help children understand how their everyday actions can make a positive environmental impact. Through engaging discussions and age-appropriate examples, we explored the importance of reducing waste, recycling materials and preserving natural resources.
One of the key messages focused on waste sorting. While recycling is a familiar concept for many children, understanding what happens after an item is placed in the correct bin often remains abstract. During the session, we showed how proper sorting is the essential first step in giving materials a second life.
To make the concept tangible, we followed the journey of a common everyday item: a beverage carton. Students learned that once consumed and correctly sorted, this packaging can be collected, processed and transformed into new products. This practical example helped demonstrate how every individual action contributes to a larger circular system.
The EcoNatural concept provided a concrete illustration of this process. By showing how recycled beverage cartons can be transformed into useful everyday products, we connected environmental responsibility with real-life outcomes that children could easily understand and relate to.
The students’ curiosity, questions and enthusiasm made the visit particularly rewarding. By helping younger generations understand the value of responsible consumption and correct waste sorting, we are contributing to the development of future citizens who are more aware of their role in building a sustainable and circular society.
